Last year, students and their families traveled downtown in droves for the inaugural Cap & Town event.

This year, the city of Merced is hoping to throw the biggest block party the town’s has ever seen.

Partnering with The D Magazine — which is providing the entertainment for the main stage located between K and M Streets — Cap and Town will provide six hours of live music and festivities for graduates of all ages.

Featured on the main stage will be four bands which all have a major following in Merced.

Merced’s El Olio Wolof and Deriva, Fresno’s Rademacher and Visalia’s Mezcal, will headline the music entertainment portion of Cap & Town that will feature a dozen bands on two stages.

For those older than 21, there will be a beer garden located in front of The Partisan across the street from the stage.

For younger audiences there will be a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting and games. There will be on-going rodeo roping demonstrations, and the audience can even participate. Fresh produce vendors and a wide variety of foods will be available for purchase as well.
